XKCD RULES!!!!!!!!

May 7, 2009 at 11:21 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , )

OK, so yes, I’ve been horrifically neglecting my blog, but I have to say this: Randall Munroe is among the more brilliant individuals to walk this earth. He’s the creator of an amazing webcomic, xkcd which often manages to be simultaneously geeky, sweet, and brilliant. Anyway, the last few have been particularly brilliant. Start here and work your way forward to the most recent, and by all means, check back for new ones. This is just too awesome to exist…

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

January 1, 2009 at 9:44 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , )

Now, I suppose I should have set this up to automatically post at midnight, but I was lazy and didn’t have time. So Happy Belated New Year! Resolutions, anyone? I’m personally shooting for 2048×1536… Nerd humor…

Word 2007!

December 14, 2008 at 11:11 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , )

So I’ve recently discovered that Word 2007 offers a blogging tool that can access most blog providers and allows you to blog from the safety and warmth of a familiar, expansive interface. I’d never much liked the WordPress or Drupal blogging interface (I run a Drupal site as well), so you can imagine that it would be a relief to find such a useful utility. Anyway, I just wanted to share that little geekgasm with you.

Interface Trouble…

December 10, 2008 at 6:45 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , )

So I just got around to noticing how WordPress squicked around with the Admin interface. I don’t like it. Not because it’s bad, just because it’s different. I’m already working on mastering the Drupal interface, then WP goes and messes with theirs! Gah!

A most puzzling conundrum…

November 25, 2008 at 8:59 pm (Philosophical Musings) (, , , , , )

So if you got to choose between getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame or getting hand/feet/whatever prints in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater, which would you pick? For myself, I’d pick the prints. There’s something more individual and geeky about getting your hand prints on the same surface that holds the prints of C-3PO, R2-D2, and Darth Vader, not to mention Gene Roddenberry and more! Anyway, that’s my thought of the day….

Dr. Horrible’s back!

August 12, 2008 at 7:53 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , )

He’s back, baby, and he’s… well, actually, he’s pretty much the same. He’s been reposted as a continuous video, available for watching (via Hulu) right about… here. They make you watch commercials every 12 minutes or so, but it’s worth it! Also, it will be released on DVD in a timely fashion… whenever they get around to it. The DVD release will be packed with fantabulous extras, not the least of which is Commentary: The Musical. Go watch it!

Dr. Horrible Acts 2 & 3

July 23, 2008 at 4:02 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , )

Yes, I realize I’m a horrible, awful blogmaster. I should have told you the day Act II and Act III came out so you could go watch them and bask in the glory that is Joss Whedon. Sadly, I did not, and Dr. Horrible has been taken down. It may or may not still be available for iTunes download, and will be coming out on DVD in a relatively short time frame. I have to say, it is worth watching. Joss is a genius!

Dr. Horrible: Act I!

July 16, 2008 at 7:03 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , )

OK, so Act I of Dr. Horrible is now up. Go watch it here. Now. OK, so technically it was up yesterday, but their server kinda choked (Slashdotted, maybe?) and it wouldn’t even load the main page. Today everything’s working fine. I just watched it and it’s genius. And it has Nathan Fillion in it! (Albeit as an ultra-cocky, rather inept superhero). I’m going to stop myself before I launch off on a long-winded exposition that totally defeats watching it, but it’s good, and so’s the music. However, despite the implication of the official name (Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog), there actually are no sing-along subtitles!!! I was very disappointed… Oh well, it’s Joss! It’s genius! Watch it now!

Dr. Horrible! Joss Whedon strikes again!

July 15, 2008 at 12:11 am (Uncategorized) (, , , )

OK, so hopefully all of you know who Joss Whedon is. If you don’t… well educate yourself!

I’m waiting…

Are you educated yet?

Still waiting!!!!!

There. You’ve educated yourself. Good for you. Now on to the explainage. Joss Whedon (oh, that genius of genii) has created a three act “supervillain musical, of which, as we all know, there are far too few.” Said musical will be unique, because not only will it be ONLINE, it will be FREE. Of course, (just to discourage all you piratey types out there) the distinction must be made that it will be free as in free beer, and not free as in speech. Pirating is BAD with a capital BAD! Don’t do it! Anyway, this wonderful ONLINE, FREE musical comes in three parts, each of which will begin streaming on a different day. Act I will be available tomorrow (July 15th), Act II will begin on Thursday (July 17th), and Act III will begin on Saturday (July 19th). They will be available for streaming until midnight on Sunday (July 20th), meaning that you will only have 24 hours to watch Act III (unless, of course, they really meant midnight of the 21st, but Joss says what he means, so I think it means the 20th…). Joss hopes to make each act available for download (at a reasonable fee, of course) shortly after the series finishes, and eventually release a DVD with some nice, meaty extras!

I feel I haven’t done such an amazing job describing this, so I’ll let Joss do it himself! You can watch the trailer here, and read Joss’s “Master Plan” for this epic here, where he does a much better job of explaining it than I do… although there’s quite a lot of Joss-speak to wade through. It’s pretty much my third language, but it might be hard for others. Also, click here to go to the main Dr. Horrible site.

ThinkGeek is the Ultimate Ruler of the Universe

July 14, 2008 at 5:05 am (Uncategorized) (, )

So I’ve been a long-time browser of the single most amazing website in the world, and I thought I should share it with you, my loyal (or perhaps simply rather bored) readers. This website is ThinkGeek!

“But,” you ask, “Just what is ThinkGeek? Is it safe? Will it rot my brains and kidnap my children?” To which I can only explain that ThinkGeek is an online store most magnificent, purveying geekery of every persuasion. For example, these are the fine folks bringing us such wonderful necessities as the USB Humping Dog, and the slightly more useful Ironkey Ultra-Secure Military-Grade Flash Drive. They are a wonderful group of people! Buy things from them and keep them fed!

On a less theatrical note, ThinkGeek really is a pretty awesome online store with cool things that will appeal to all and sundry (OK, so mostly just geeks, but…). Go check it out!
